Austin Baroque Orchestra & Chorus

JS Bach’s St. John Passion
Composed in 1724 for Good Friday services in Leipzig, the St. John Passion is a testament to Bach’s genius and is a cornerstone of the baroque choral repertoire. Its choruses, arias, and ariosos carry the listener through the gamut of emotions, from visceral despair and sadness, to calmness and hope.
Our period-instrument orchestra and chorus will accompany a number of talented vocal soloists, including soprano Julianna Emanski, countertenor Nicholas Garza, tenor Jeffrey Jones-Ragona, bass-baritone Ryan Sullivan, with Barrett Radzuin, tenor, as the Evangelist, Gil Zilkha, bass-baritone, as Christ, and bass-baritone Austin Bradley as Pilate.
